The Russian River Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) produces less than 20% of total wine made in the Sonoma Valley. This region hugs its namesake river on a rocky bed heading out toward the Pacific Ocean. Wines from the Russian River Valley are known for their bright freshness and tart acidity - a product of cool morning fogs and more moderate temperatures, regulated by the coastal breeze. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah thrive in this climate - producing uniquely complex wines that pair well with food or standout on their own.

Our day in the Russian River Valley will include a private winery tour followed by a multi-course pairing luncheon at one of the region's esteemed wineries.

Immediately north of the Russian River Valley lies a viticultural region with a remarkably different climate and winemaking traditions. Dry Creek Valley is 16 miles long and produces the vast majority of wine in Sonoma Valley. Dry Creek is world-renowned for uniquely complex and structured expressions of Zinfandel. Although the region produces more than 30 varieties, Zinfandel is king. The region has numerous of historically registered vineyards, some planted before the start of the 20th century. 

Our day in the Dry Creek Valley will include two private winery tours, allowing us to compare different vineyard sites and winemakers - tasting the diversity this small area has to offer.
